Agios Germanos is a village Very close to the unique for its natural beauty area of Prespes Lakes, at 1100m, on the slopes of Varnoundas Mountain and overlooking the lakes, you can find the village of Agios Germanos . It is the only village of the area where the old stone houses have been preserved.
Agios Germanos is also a guesthouse Our old
family house built back in 1890 is the core of our guesthouse, along with two
more houses, built from 1890 to 1932. Carefully
renovated, with use of original materials and the work of local craftsmen, all feature the characteristic elements of local architecture, based on wood and stone. The interior
of the guesthouse also follows the local style, with wooden floors and ceilings,
plain decoration, and traditional art crafts.
Our rooms In our rooms, you will not find the amenities of big hotels, but we offer daily housekeeping, private bathroom, a TV and heating, in a home-reminding atmosphere.
Our restaurant Our restaurant is the gathering point during the day:
You can have your breakfast here, made up from fresh eggs and milk, homemade pies and marmalades, tea from herbs or even the traditional “trahana” or “hylopites” soups.
It is also a lovely café, and you can spend some time by the fireplace or in the yard.
Then, you can have your home-cooked lunch or dinner here: You just have to tell us, and we will prepare a delicious meal.
Finally, do not hesitate to mix with the locals over a bottle of wine until late in the evening.
The restoration of our guesthouse was supervised by the government authorities
and followed strict laws regarding the preservation of local architecture.
This is why you will not find some of the modern amenities in the rooms, like air-conditioning
(Also, the local climate and stone walls make its use unnecessary).
But we offer daily housekeeping, private bathroom (shower), and TV in all
rooms. Some of our rooms have a fireplace.
We also have a restaurant / café, where you can enjoy our traditional breakfast
with handmade delicacies, local cuisine or just a drink by the fireplace. If the weather is good, you can enjoy all the above
in our green yard. For your recreation, we can arrange for you a wide variety of
activities, like boating, mountain bike, bird watching, cultural visits etc.

We have given life to our 1918 family house, and with lots of love and effort
we have created a guesthouse that features all the unique characteristics of
local architecture. Following our example, many locals are now rebuilding their old houses, and our
village is now alive and an attractive destination! Furthermore, we strongly promote local products of our area, by using and
displaying them in our guesthouse's restaurant. We also support environmental protection and visitor's information working
closely with the Society for the Protection of Prespa
